Even though it was getting late and we'd already been to one beach today, Mom enjoyed getting out in the sunshine one more time.
There aren't very many beaches on the Florida Key's, this is one of the nicer ones.
This campground at Long Key State Park is normally booked up a year in advance, but sometimes people cancel at the last minute. Life is rough, what can I say?
We decided to eat lunch here - seems fitting as this is the half way point of our trip.
We may have eaten a bit much at lunch, but still couldn't pass up their Key Lime Pie
Mom & I finally made it to Key West! This is the 1/2 way point on our trip to circumnavigate the US.
The flowers in Key West were lovely, January 5th flowers? Not back home!
This was at the Miami Everglades Campground next to our RV site.
Mike visited us several times this week. This is in the RV just before we left the Miami area.
Quite a difference a day makes! The temperature dropped from 84 F yesterday to 49 F this morning (rose to about 60 late afternoon). It didn't stop us from going to the beach however!
The wildlife in the Royal Palms nature walk area are quite used to people. Mom actually went up and touched this Cormorant later, he just ignored her.
We only stopped at the beach for about 30 minutes, but really enjoyed our time there.
Mom doesn't put her sticker up until we leave a state, so when we got to FL, she put up the GA sticker.
The ladies at the Visitors Center, Sadie and Vickie, were just too friendly I was afraid Mom wouldn't want to leave. The trolley driver, Roland, not only took us around town, but also dropped us off for a tour of the Hay house, then picked us up there when the tour was over.
We saw one of these further north. They are used for killing water fowl (ducks, etc.)
They serve a lunch buffet, which we decided to try. I liked it, Mom didn't care for the food as much.
We decided to take a guided tour of Savannah since our time was limited and we wanted to learn as much as we could in the time available
This is a first order Fresnel Lens, missing most of the glass, but you can see how large these are!
The mature tree's near the shoreline of a beach indicate a beach subject to erosion. But it was sure lovely!
Early colonists could be punished for a number of infractions, including cursing.

Mom couldn't believe all the flowers in bloom in mid-December
